This year’s theme, “Learn, Share, Collaborate, Celebrate,” focused on Cradle to Cradle product innovation. The Be Green Team engaged directly with like-minded leaders: “We shared our commitment to best practices and discussed the importance of communicating the business benefits of the C2C Certified mark with the entire community of Cradle to Cradle Certified™ companies,” elated Robert Richman, Co-CEO of Be Green Packaging, who attended this weekend’s events. Tom Huntington VP of Sales also participated. The Symposium was held at Steelcase’s WorkLife Center in New York City.
On Friday the Be Green Team attended an exclusive Marketing Association Meeting, the invitation of which was extended only to companies with C2C Certified products. Fashion Positive Program | Cradle to Cradle’s Fashion Positive initiative was among the major highlights of the weekend’s events. The Fashion Positive program is aimed at accelerating innovation in high-quality materials, products and processes to improve how clothes are made across the industry. Fashion is one of the most polluting industries in the world, and there is growing demand among consumers, investors and other fashion stakeholders for sustainable products. “Fashion Positive is Planet Positive,” says Eva Van Wingerden, Eco Social Director of Be Green. “This program is the first of its kind, and it’s going to make a seriously positive impact on the environment, the economy and society by helping fashion brands, designers, and suppliers continuously improve how clothes are made, what resources are used, and where it all goes after use.” Amber Valletta, Model and Eco Fashion Entrepreneur, spoke at the Innovation Celebration as a member of the Fashion Positive Advisory Council. Valletta believes that “what will carry fashion forward is rethinking the way we make clothing and accessories… What we will create now can truly change the future through beauty, innovation and common sense.” Amber Valletta’s remarks at the Innovation Celebration were truly inspirational.
